FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Network technology developed by local startup brings reliable Internet access to rural Alberta community

(Calgary, Alberta April 15, 2020)      Mage Networks, a Calgary-based company, is excited to announce the deployment of their technology, MagiNet™, in Bragg Creek, Alberta. MagiNet™ connects underserved and remote areas to consistent and reliable Internet access.

Traditionally, Internet Service Providers have been challenged to reach customers in areas that have hills, obstacles and foliage. MagiNet™ is a proprietary network that seamlessly uses wireless and wired connections to create wireless coverage over, under, and around any sized area without degradation in speed or consistency – the elements that make Internet connection in rural areas a challenge.

“According to the CRTC, there are 6 Million Canadians without access to broadband Internet,” explains Dr. Sayed-Amr (Sisso) El-Hamamsy, CEO, Mage Networks. “Although there’s Alberta SuperNet fiber access in the hamlet of Bragg Creek, the area is severely underserved. The COVID-19 work-from-home and remote schooling mandates have made the situation critical. MagiNet™ can solve this challenge.” he says.

The network deployment is launching in phases, beginning with the Hamlet of Bragg Creek. Mage anticipates that they’ll have its first customers connected within a week; network construction is expected to be completed by September 2020.

A unique attribute of MagiNet™is their Guaranteed Streaming Bandwidth™ (GSB™) which guarantees sufficient bandwidth for streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video to run without interruptions. Another key attribute is the low latency which allows for real time services such as Zoom, Skype and gaming applications.
